Changes, Mother's Day, and a wedding?!?!

For the last month, I have been staying with my Grandmother. No, it wasn't planned, at least for me. She had a total hip replacement and she needed someone to stay with her. I have to admit it was tough the first few nights with her in the hospital. She was on the medicine and she just was not herself, but I made it. Through the laughs and the tears she is much better and staying on her own. Still, about three times a week I visit her and help with house chores. I love my Grandma. She is pretty amazing.
I have been thinking about this blog and what I would like to accomplish with it. To tell you the truth, the thought of just hacking it all and starting over did not seem like such a bad idea. I am still working on all the details, but I am planning some major changes. I am just not quite sure on what those changes will be. So please bare with me as I figure things out!
This month, I am working on A WEDDING! And no I am not getting married just yet! My sister is getting married and I am very excited! I am the wedding planner and the photographer, so my month is packed. I will keep you posted!
I am also working on Mother's Day. I am planning to create something for my mother and I think I know just the craft. I have been searching for a while now, but all the results were "crafts for kids to mom". And no I do not want to dye coffee filter flowers for my mother. So, if you were like me and looking for "Adult Mothers Day Crafts" my suggestion is going to MarthaStewart.com I know it sounds so easy, but it took me a long time just to think of it! :) If you are crafting for this mother's day I would love to hear about them! Just post a comment!

My Wants, My Needs

Here lately I have had the opportunity to ponder some things. And I have realized that it is best not to plan. At least for me that is. Don't get me wrong I believe some things are still great to plan, but my problem is I try to plan out my entire life. I say "Okay God, I want this to happen and then this has to happen and then this..." And the Lord has really challenged me to take a step back and to see just how selfish I can be. I have realized that I expect things to be perfect, which they will never be, and I expect things to go my way. I can see as I grow closer to my wants and my "needs" I grow further and further away from the Lord. So, for these next "few" days I am going to reconnect with the Lord. I need to put him back in the #1 position. I will try to blog about my journey as the days pass. Thank you all for your support. Prayers would be appreciated. May God Bless! :)

Cooking...

So I have to admit I am not the best cook in the world. Who would have thunk it?! Tonight I tried to make some homemade pasta... and it didn't turn out right. Ugh. If I keep this up I just might be nominated for Worst Cook of the Year. I guess with everything you just need practice. I hope my husband doesn't love me for my cooking. Bless his heart if he does. :) So I guess I said all of that to say this... if you are like me with limited cooking experience... just remember to keep your head high and keep trying! If you have any cooking tips, I would love to hear them! God Bless and I hope your new year is off to a wonderful start!

Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Thanksgiving went well! We had everyone over for Turkey. Great time spent with family. We also had everyone over for Christmas! I made a Christmas Tree cake. I love Christmas, but I am so glad all of my Christmas projects are finished! I will try to upload some pictures, but it depends on if my computer wants to work or not... Anyways, future things coming up: planning for the future, preparing things for my hope chest to one day fill in my home, and updates from day-to-day life. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!! God Bless!

So, my mom decided she was going to cook the turkey... so no trying the recipe for me. Oh well at least I didn't have to wake up at 5am. And I am sure next year I will have a chance at my own turkey ;) I'm sure moms turkey will be wonderful as always! But if anyone tries that recipe, I would love to hear about it! Happy Thanksgiving all! I hope you have a blessed day! God bless! :D

Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is the big Turkey day! There are lots of things to get done around here. We are having most of my family over tomorrow and I am super excited. I will be cooking the Turkey this year... my first ever! I have found this wonderful recipe and I have wanted to try it since last Thanksgiving. This year mom has agreed to let me handle the bird. If you are still looking for a recipe for your bird, this is the one I am using: Turkey Recipe I will be sure to post pictures of how the turkey turned out and if my family loved it.
I know Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but I have been planning for Christmas for over a month now... This Christmas I have decided that all of my gifts will be handmade, nothing purchased. Everything I will be using are things I already have around the house. I have just about everything I am going to make planned out, but there are still a couple of people I have no idea what to make... So, I guess I am still looking for a few ideas.
If you have been searching for a place to find great ideas for homemade Christmas gifts look no further than sewmamasew.com/blog2/  They have a new category everyday in the month of November, so I am sure everyone can find something they would love to create. Also, if you are still searching for that perfect homemade gift to create you can search the ideas from past years. And if you still can't find anything... You can look at past months with their ideas for projects such as: Hand Sewing Month, Kids' Clothes Month, and even Sew-Alongs. This really is a great blog with lots of great ideas I hope everyone gets a chance to check it out!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! God Bless!!!
